This 3-day workshop aims to explore how we live alongside objects, how we distinguish between things and bodies and how we might hide amongst the world of the inanimate. We will attempt to become object-like through performing live – a contradiction which holds poetic possibilities.

We will look carefully at objects and environments and discuss ways in which their characteristics enable them to be identified. Mimicking these characteristics ourselves, we will then attempt to become the objects and disappear into the landscape. We will look at how framing effects meaning and work both in the city and studio to develop a series of performance photographs as well as live work.

The workshop comprises a series of exercises that introduce various approaches to performance making, which will guide us in developing new work of our own. It will offer an opportunity to learn through the testing out of ideas and to gain support from peers through collaboration and critical feedback.
