Edinburgh Peer Group (NWN)

The Edinburgh Peer Group formed in May 2010 in partnership with New Work Network

The Edinburgh Peer Group consists of Edinburgh based artists and theorists and meets regularly at various sites accross the city. The meetings consist of discussions, interventions, research trips and workshop activities that focus on trying out ways of working collboratively, while responding to specific public spaces.

Sunshine on Leith involved collaborating with passing members of Leith's public to create a mural using yellow ribbon and drawing pins. In the days that followed the project, graffiti artists filled in the figures with white paint and added their own tags to the mural. Those responsible for maintaining the hoarding then painted over the tagging in the original blue, leaving the white figures in tact.

Posing as Fringe staff working to decorate the city for the festival, the peer group took 50 helium filled balloons and placed them next to the 50 CCTV cameras that survey the Cowgate and Grassmarket.
